Born and raised in the DMV, Kite graduated from Yale University in 2022, where they received a B.A. in English, cum laude with distinction. While at Yale, Kite’s poetry was critiqued and encouraged by Donald Margulies, Louise Glück, Christian Wiman, Anne Fadiman, and Karin Roffman. Their senior thesis, The Shape of Life, was the first of its kind to investigate and compare the work of poets Elizabeth Bishop and Terrance Hayes. For their work in the English department, Kite was awarded the Chauncey Brewster Tinker Prize for Outstanding Senior in the Major, and was named a Yale College Poet in 2022. Their poetry can be read in Soft Punk Magazine, the Yale Literary Magazine, and the upcoming Fall 2025 issue of Sugar House Review.
At Yale, Kite performed onstage with the Yale Drama Coalition, wrote and performed original sketches with The Fifth Humour, and sang with Doox of Yale. Their original song, “One,” recorded and performed by Doox, was the runner-up for the Best Original Song at the 2020 CARAs, and has over 23,000 streams on Spotify. Kite also co-starred in a feature film, “Voyeur,” which won Best Feature Film at the Soho International Film Festival and is currently streamable on Amazon Prime.
In New York, Kite has developed new musicals in workshops for TBD Theatricals, NYU’s Musical Theater Composition MFA program, and Patchworks NYC, and has done commercial work for Harper Collins. Their work can also be seen in “Zoomies,” an upcoming short film shot and directed by Sally M. Rubin, and “Floating Carousel,” an upcoming feature film by Best Dressed Films. Kite’s debut EP is slated to release in spring of 2026, funded in part by the YoungArts Foundation.
Since the end of 2024, Kite's been collaging several days a week—mostly on their face. He wears face collages when he performs his original music.
